Dialed Control web app
Privacy Policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
This policy explains what the Dialed Control web app stores about you, why, who sees it and what you can do about it. The terms for the app are in the Terms of Service.
01The short version
- You do not need an account. Without one, your device's settings and history move only between your device and your browser, and we receive none of it.
- If you make an account, we store your email, a name you choose and a hash of your password.
- Saving your session history to your account is off until you turn it on, and we ask first. When it is on, we keep when you used the device, flower or concentrate, temperature and length. That describes when and how you use cannabis products, so treat it as sensitive. It is private unless you opt in to the leaderboard.
- We use no advertising or analytics tools, and we do not sell personal information.
- On the Account page you can turn syncing off, leave the leaderboard, remove a device, download a copy of your data or delete everything.
02Who is responsible for your information
Dialed LLC, which runs this app, decides how and why your information is used (in data protection terms, the "controller"). To reach us about your information, email [email protected] or open a ticket in the Dialed Discord.
03What stays on your device and in your browser
Your settings, presets, curves, lights and the device's session log live on the device. The app reads and changes them over Bluetooth, directly from your browser. Web Bluetooth permission is held by your browser.
The app keeps a few small items in your browser's own storage: feature switches you turned on, a hint about the last device you connected, and, during a firmware update, enough to resume an interrupted one. They never go to our servers. Clearing the site's data in your browser removes them.
04Account information we store
- Your email address and when you confirmed it.
- The name you choose (a nickname; it does not have to be your real name).
- A hash of your password (never the password itself). If you only use Discord, there is no password.
- When you signed up, which version of the Terms and Privacy Policy you agreed to and when, and your choices: syncing on or off (and when you turned it on), leaderboard on or off, and your public name.
- If you sign in with or connect Discord: your Discord user ID, the username, avatar and email Discord shares with us, and the sign-in tokens Discord issues, which our sign-in library keeps so that Discord sign-in works. You can disconnect Discord on the Account page.
The links we email you (to confirm an address or reset a password) carry a random token. We store only a one-way hash of it, it expires, and it works once.
05Session history, if you sync
Syncing is off until you turn it on. The app asks first, explains what is saved, and we record when you said yes. While you are signed in with syncing on, the app saves, for each device you connect: its model, the name you gave it, its firmware version and when it first and last synced; and, for each session in the device's log: its position in the log, the device's lifetime count, flower or concentrate, the slot, the start time (when the device's clock is set), the length, the temperature and whether it passed the plausibility checks the leaderboard relies on.
The device's serial number never reaches us. The app identifies a device with a one-way hash, made in your browser, of your account ID and the serial.
We use this to show you your own stats and history and, if you opt in, to place you on the leaderboard. We do not use it for anything else, and we do not share it.
Turning syncing off (on the Account page) stops new sessions being saved; what is already saved stays until you remove the device or delete your account.
06The leaderboard
It is off until you turn it on. If you do, other people can see: your public name, your rank, your number of counted sessions, the number of days you were active and your average temperature. They cannot see your email, your real name, your devices or your individual sessions.
Turn it off on the Account page and you disappear from the board.
07The firmware access list
Firmware images are closed to the public while we test. To control who can download them, we keep a list of email addresses that have access, with a note and who added each, and the addresses of our admins are set in the server's configuration. Your confirmed account email is checked against them.
08Why we use your information
Where the law asks us to name a reason for using personal information, these are ours:
- To run your account and sign you in (your email, name, password hash, Discord details): it is needed to give you the service you asked for.
- To save your session history and, if you opt in, to show you on the leaderboard: your consent, which you give by turning sync (or the leaderboard) on and can withdraw by turning it off.
- To keep the service secure and stop abuse (technical request data, rate limiting): our legitimate interest in a service that works and is not abused.
- To decide who may download closed firmware (the access list): our legitimate interest in running a closed test.
- To keep a record of the terms you agreed to: our legitimate interest in being able to show what you agreed to.
- Where the law requires it.
10Email
We send email only to run your account: confirming an address and resetting a password. It is sent through Resend, which processes your address and the message to deliver it. We send no marketing from the app.
11Technical data and security
Our servers and the hosting and network services in front of them process technical request data (IP address, browser, page, time) to deliver pages and keep the service secure. The app also counts requests per IP address, in memory, to stop abuse; that count is not saved to the database.
Passwords are hashed, email tokens are stored only as hashes, and connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that yours will never be accessed without permission. If a breach is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you, and the relevant authority, within the time the law requires.
13How long we keep it
Account information and synced sessions stay until you remove them: removing a device deletes it and its sessions, and deleting your account deletes your account, devices, synced sessions, email tokens and your email's place on the firmware access list. Your device keeps its own log either way.
Email links expire (confirmation after a day, password reset after an hour), and expired ones are deleted when newer ones are issued.
We take a nightly backup of the database and keep it for 30 days, so something you delete can remain in a backup for up to 30 days. Backups are not edited, and they are deleted on that schedule.
14Your choices and rights
On the Account page you can change your name, turn syncing and the leaderboard on or off, remove a device, connect or disconnect Discord, download a copy of your data (a JSON file) and delete your account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to have your information corrected, to object to or restrict how it is used, to withdraw consent (turning syncing off is withdrawing it), and to complain to your data protection authority. To ask for anything the Account page does not do, email [email protected] or open a ticket in the Dialed Discord. We reply within 30 days; if a request is complex we may need longer, and we will tell you why.
To protect your information we may need to check that a request really comes from you, for example by asking you to write from the Discord account connected to your account, or from the account itself. We will not ask for more than we need.
15Age
The app is for people who are 21 or older (or the legal age where you live, if higher). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger; if we learn we have, we will delete it.
16Changes and contact
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version, and we will make a meaningful change clear. Questions or requests: email [email protected] or open a ticket in the Dialed Discord.
